About Norwegian Afghanistan Committee

The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) is a member-based solidarity organization that has been working in support and solidarity with the Afghan people for more than 35 years. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) has a zero tolerance of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) both within the organization and of beneficiaries. Prevention of and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) is the individual and collective responsibility of all NAC officers, management, staff, consultants, and volunteers, who are all required to familiarize themselves with, agree to, and act in accordance with NAC’s Ethical Guidelines and Commitment, NAC Child Protection Policy, and NAC PSEAH Policy, at all times – both during and outside working hours – and participate actively in introductory and refresher trainings. Any breaches of PSEAH clauses in NAC’s policies, guidelines, and/or commitments will lead to immediate termination and possible legal actions.

Job Description

  • Maintaining and taking care of office and staff house tools, assets, properties, and equipment’s when he is in duty.
  • Reporting any challenges or problems to his close supervisor or head of region on time.
  • Regular monitoring the office and office/staff house compound during his being in duty till coming the next guard and hand overing the duties to him.
  • Doing communication and informing the relevant staff when the beneficiaries or stakeholders come to the office for official purposes.
  • Registering the guests, beneficiaries or those who come to the office or staff house for official or unofficial purposes.
  • Filling, preparing, and turning on the heaters for bathrooms as well as the offices while needed.
  • Cleaning and arranging the disks, tables, chairs, rooms, offices, hall, and any office or staff house properties that will be given to him based on a plan and schedule.
  • Support and assist the cooks for providing kitchen needs from Bazar, preparing the food, and delivering tea into the offices.
  • Inspect and patrol premises regularly in the office and the staff house.
  • Monitor property entrance.
  • Authorize entrance of people and vehicles
  • Report any suspicious behaviors and happenings.
  • Inspect and secure all exits, doors and windows while he is on duty in the office or staff house.
  • Report any suspicious action to his supervisor or head of region.
  • Turning on and off the generator based on the given schedule while the urban electricity is not available.
  • Switching on/off the water pump to fill the water tanker based on need.
  • Inspecting and switching off all the office equipment after official times.
  • Cleaning and well preparing the office and staff house compound, rooms, doors, windows, etc.
  • Opening and closing the office/staff house entrance gate while the colleagues are coming in or going out.
  • Checking the vehicles slip, opening and closing the office entrance gate while the colleagues or vehicles are going out/coming in.
  • Support the storekeeper in recording the received and issued goods/items.
  • Any other tasks they will be given by the supervisors based on need and nature of the organization.

Job Requirements

Language requirements, if any:

  •  Fluent in Dari, Basic in reading and writing English.

Qualifications Required:

  • 12th grade (High Education) degree.

Work Experience:

  • At least three years’ relevant experience with a recognized NGO or INGOs.
  • Experience working in an environment similar or closely related to NGOs/NGOs type of work.

Skills/competencies:

  • Treating good behavior with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Familiar with fixing and operating electrical equipment e.g.: Generator, water pump, vacuum cleaner, etc.
  • Good ethical conduct.
  • Physically and medically fit the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Well-organized and detail oriented.
