Job Description

Mission

Under the supervision of the Grants and Project Development Manager, the Grants and Reporting Specialist is responsible for leading the reporting process of project assigned to him/her, including incorporated data collected by MEAL (output, outcome and impact indicators, lessons learnt), revise reports, clarify and incorporate information collected from the programme team and support with project registration and MoUs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the writing and review of quality narrative reports, reflecting the progress and status of projects in a transparent, timely, and professional manner
  • Ensure that contractual obligations (including visibility requirements) and reporting deadlines are known and met by Programme, MEAL and Support Services
  • Planning and managing budgets and expenditure.
  • Analyse the country’s socio-economic situation, (donor) trends, needs, and gaps
  • Support the identification of funding opportunities
  • Regularly update a directory of donors, international and local NGOs, other partners, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the reporting to national and local authorities as required by HI registration/legal status in the country
  • When needed, represent HI in cluster meetings and circulate information collected with relevant colleagues
  • Prepare articles and support the development of communication material (factsheet, presentations, etc.)
  • Contribute to the identification of potential relevant international and/or local partners (private sector partners, national and international NGOs, think tanks, academia, etc.) to partner with
  • Liaise with MEAL to collect information for reporting purposes, as well as for proposal development, when needed
  • Collect and review internal monthly reports and liaise with Base Coordinators, Project Managers and the Technical Unit to cross-check information when needed
  • Contribute to addressing promptly all comments by donors on proposals and reports in liaison with relevant staff
  • Support the preparation of project presentations for internal use, translating into Dari/Pashto to then circulate among project staff
  • Participate in and take minutes of kick-off and closeout meetings for each project.

Job Requirements

Knowledge required

Essential

  1. University studies in a relevant field (International Relations, Development, Political Science)
  2. 2-5 years of work experience in a relevant position (grants, reporting, communication)
  3. Previous experience working in humanitarian and/or development-focused organisations.

Skills required

  1. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  2. Ability to work well under pressure, prioritising tasks.
  3. Excellent written and spoken English, Dari and Pashto
  4. Capacity building and training skills
  5. Team work and flexibility working in a multicultural environment
  6. Planning skills
