Job Description

Position Description:

The Grants and Communications Manager is a key position within the Fundraising & Communications Department.  In close collaboration with the Fundraising Adviser the incumbent will support DACAAR in the development of funding proposals, reports to donors, compliance with contractual obligations, donor communication as well as external communication activities in English

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Take part in the quarterly and annual planning for the Department in coordination with the Fundraising Adviser, and other key staff of the department. 
  • Support the Fundraising Adviser in leading and facilitating and coordinating the process of developing project proposals based on DACAAR’s competencies and in line with DACAAR’s programme framework.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of standard components and off-the-shelf information sets and tools as building blocks for project proposal development.
  • Work closely with the M&E team and support them in ensuring that lessons learnt and knowledge accumulated through M&E of current projects are channeled and integrated into the design of future projects as well as reports for going projects.
  • Support the Fundraising Adviser in ensuring compliance with contractual obligations related to funded projects by donors both in terms of quality of implementation and quality and timeliness of reports.
  • Support the Senior Reporting Officer in developing the project reports in accordance with the required quality and deadlines. 
  • Work closely with and support the Communications Officer and assistant in keeping the DACAAR website up to date with key information including photos, videos, news, press releases, success stories from the field, publications, etc.
  • In close coordination with the M&E team, collecting success stories, case studies, human interest stories, photos and video. Edit and improve these to be used for donor reports, conferences, external annual report, websites and other publications.
  • Undertake the development and oversee the designing and publishing of the DACAAR External Annual Report.
  • The holder of this position must strictly follows the organization existing security policies, procedures and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
  • In addition to the above specific tasks and responsibilities, the Grants & Communications Manager will undertake any other relevant tasks assigned by the Fundraising Adviser

Job Requirements

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                                

Education:

Master Degree in development studies, English Literature, Social Science, or another relevant field.

Experience:

 At least 6-10 years of Fundraising & Communications experience in international humanitarian Organizations.

Other qualifications’ an advantage:

  • Experience with key donors, including USAID, UN Agencies, ECHO, DANIDA, NMFA, or other European donors, as well as private funding sources, and familiarity with institutional donor rules and regulations and compliance
  • Strong proficiency in grants management and reporting.
  • Strong coordination and project management skills, including coordination among the different departments within the DACAAR.
  • Fluency in English, with strong writing, Oral and analytical skills, including ability to communicate technical matters to a range of audiences.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent diplomacy skills, patience and clear communication skills.
  • Ability to independently organize work and prioritize tasks

Languages: Pashto/Dari & English Fluency in (Written & Spoken) is required.
