The Turquoise Mountain Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture (TMI) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit vocational training institute established in 2006, providing high-quality training across four schools: calligraphy & miniature painting, woodworking, ceramics, and jewellery and gem cutting. The Institute is registered with the Afghan Technical and Vocational Education and Training Independent Authority- TVET-A and is also accredited with City & Guilds, a UK-based vocational training body. The Institute is funded by the Trust but is overseen by its own Board of Directors.

Job Summary:

He is fully responsible for working under the direct supervision of a Geometrical design teacher. He is responsible for preparing the classroom, studying martials and check the tools and instruments before the class. He is responsible for facilitating the learning environment and implementing classes based on the current curriculum.  He must assist the teacher in teaching classes to improve his teaching ability and manage classes based on academic standards. He must report all his class-related activities to the geometrical design teacher or head of general subject department and contribute to the activities of the Department as required.

Core Responsibilities:

• Assist the geometrical design teacher and work under supervision of him.
• Report from the geometrical design tools and instruments in case of damaging or disordering
• Supervising the class in case of the geometrical teacher is absent.
• Preparing the requirement raw materials for the geometrical design subject.
• Semester based Checking and recording the tools and equipment needed for geometrical design subject.
• Record students’ final projects in database.
• Monitor students’ behavior during classes.
• Prepare and distribute material for classes.
• Keep a record of teaching activities.
• Working on improving his own teaching and professional capacities.
• Responding to the supervisor from daily progression.
• Preparing of daily, weekly, and monthly teaching plan under the supervision of geometrical design teacher.
• Guide the students during the classes to improve their skills and ingenuity.
• Following students project progression, save them with the help of the subject Master.
• Daily school supervision.
• Other given tasks by the head of Department or TMI authorities
