Overview of position

Treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is one of the key components of PND activities serviced through BPHS NGOS. It is primarily implemented in the emergency affected provinces where the prevalence of SAM is high. The services will be expanded as part of emergency response once there is emergency induced SAM cases. Therapeutic nutrition supplies (e.g F-75, F-100 and RUTF) are core elements of the services. PND manage the overall supply chain including forecasting, requesting, distributing, and collecting the reports on a quarterly basis.

Purpose of the post:

The main objective of this assignment is to support PND to manage quality IMAM services delivery as inpatient care and outpatient care. Also, to manage the therapeutic supply and minimize the nutrition supply stock outs through improved nutrition supply management system. The technical assistance will also be responsible for emergency related activities in PND including coordinating with Nutrition cluster. 

Job Description

Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate (DRR-Engineering) and in close collaboration with the DRR Field Engineer; and relevant Units in Afghanistan Country Office, the selected candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following duties and responsibilities.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Field Engineer to carry out site assessment of the area prior to commencement of the construction works for the evaluation of availability of quality construction materials.
  2. Assist the Field Engineer in estimating the day-to-day requirement of construction materials, tools, and equipment at the site.
  3. Assist the Field Engineer to keep records of laborers (skilled and unskilled) and all materials delivered/used on the site on a daily basis.
  4. Assist the Field Engineer in monitoring quality of materials and workmanship to ensure the work is according to design, specifications, and within the planned timeline.
  5. Assist Field Engineer in setting out the design layout to guide the construction works.
  6. Any other task in the field as assigned by the Field Engineer.
  7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as technical education in masonry, construction, associative engineering, architecture, or civil engineering with one year of working experience.

Or

High school/College Diploma in the above field of studies with 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

 

  • Experience in construction work of different type of structures particularly stone masonry protection wall, gabion masonry protection walls, retaining walls, gabion works, check dams, water intakes, culverts, floodway, and others (buildings and ect.)

 

  • Experience in organizing on site activities such as layout of structures including protection walls, monitoring construction works and labours , preparing CfW timesheets, receiving and recording construction materials and construction tools etc.

SKILLS

  • Familiarity with tools such as level machine, and GPS.
  • Knowledge in MS Office.
  • The candidate must be willing to reside and work in designated areas and work overtime if necessary.
  • Good Communication skills on community basis is desired.

Languages

  • For all Applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
  • Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
