Job Description

Union Aid is seeking for a qaulified MD/USG (Ultra Sonography Specialist) for its emergency health services for Gayan Camp in Paktika.

Main responsibilities:

  • Setting up and maintaining ultrasound equipment
  • Producing images resulting from the ultrasound examinations
  • Interpreting ultrasound images to aid patient diagnosis
  •  Carrying out training on ultrasound equipment for other healthcare professionals
  • Addressing patients concerns before, during and after ultrasound examinations
  • Keeping up to date records of scans performed and images produced
  • Referring patients to other healthcare professionals and facilities when necessary
  • Soothing and reassuring nervous or anxious patients 

Skills and qualifications:

  • An Ultrasound Sonographer will need a strong knowledge of human physiology and medical concepts. They should also be excellent communicators with great interpersonal skills and have a good work ethic. A successful Ultrasound Sonographer will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that typically include: 

Ultrasound Sonographer experience requirements

  • Ultrasound Sonographers must have one to two years of experience working in a healthcare-related field. Experience as a Nurse or Radiographer is acceptable. Ultrasound Sonographers can gain experience through apprenticeships. Mid-level Ultrasound Sonographers need three to five years of experience, while Senior Ultrasound Sonographers will need over five years of experience to be qualified for the position. Other experience requirements will be determined by the employer. 

OPD part:

•          OPD consultation and diagnosis and treatment of patients

•          Refer severe and complicated cases

•          Conduct health education sessions

•          Supervise all the health & administrative activities of the BHC

•          Ensure all equipment in good condition and all inventories are properly listed and physically present

•          Provide on job mentoring to health staff inside BHCs

•          Hold weekly staff meeting to review progress against activities agreed

•          Maintain good communication and coordination between health facility, local authorities and community health committee

•          Develop a good liaison with staff members and ensure to work in close coordination with Health Coordinator

•          Proficient in dealing with emergency cases

•          Familiarity with and usage of drugs from the basic drugs list and rational prescribing.

•          Prepare and submit regular monthly, quarterly, interim and final reports

•          Perform any task assign by Project Coordinator/Executive Director

 

Job Requirements

    Graduate from a reputable medical university and USG Specialist with approved by MoPH

•          Three years practical working knowledge in BHC, CHC or DH

•          Strong project management skill at community level

•          Strong written and fluent verbal communication skills in Pashto, Dari and English

•          Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.

•          Proficient in Microsoft Office program.

•          Team work spirit, disciplined, hard worker and capability to respond challenging conditions.

•          Being flexible regarding working hours.

•          Received Training in BPHS Program

•          Having skill of management, report writing and training

•          Willingness to travel to the site areas.
