The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Job Purpose
Plan, organize and evaluate the activities concerning his/her field of action and the team associated,
according to JHPIEGO values, policies and protocols and MLMCC health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care.
Key Accountabilities:
o To clean the related health center (inside and outside) and furniture and equipment on daily basis.
o To wash the MCH rooms (ANC, PNC, and Delivery) daily or whenever required and to clean the
doors, windows and glasses when required.
o To take away the garbage/ waste of the health center on daily basis and burn it at prepared places on
daily basis.
o To check and look after the toilets/bathrooms and its needs i.e., toilet paper, brushes, cleaning
powder and soap etc. and report any problems immediate.
o Helping midwife preparing lunch/dinner and other laundry related miscellaneous tasks.
o To assist Midwife in carrying or moving office document or equipment with in the health center
when needed especially during moving patient from one room to another within MCH ward.
o To turn on and off the water pump for filling the tank of the related health center when needed.
o To turn off all the lights and unplug forgotten heater/ AC before leaving the Health center.
o To turn on/off kerosene heater/electricity heater on daily basis.
o To assist for proper client flow and managing un-necessary load of caretaker in MCH rooms.
o Any other activities assigned by the direct/ in- direct supervisor.
Job requirements
1. At least basic school.
2. At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
3. Fluent in Pashto and Dari.
4. Be flexible and accountable for her given responsibilities.
5. Able to work under pressure.
6. Be able to communicate with staff properly.
7. Good knowledge of written and spoken Pashto and Dari is desirable.
8. Respect cultural and social norms and strictly follow privacy measures.
