The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Position Overview
The UHI Evaluation & Research officer will Provide support to Monitoring, Evaluation and
Learning Unit and work closely with Research and Evaluation Associate Director in
development and implementation of assessments, research and evaluations, Maintains IRB
documentation for all assessments, research and evaluations research, assessments and
evaluation. Also support the team to ensure data quality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains and keep record of IRB documentation and other documents for all
assessments, research and evaluations
The M&E officer will be checking the quality of data, keep update the tracking of hard
and soft copy of survey and assessment forms/data
Enter data from assessments, research and evaluation, monitoring and support the
implementation of project assessments, research and evaluation
Responsible for collecting the data and compiling research reports based on the project
reporting requirements
Establish and maintain an updated evaluation, assessment and research filing system and
check the data quality.
Provide timely related activities feedback to the team related to the assessment,
Evaluation and research data.
Review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities
Enquiry and obtain further information for incomplete documents
Comply with data integrity and security policies
Conduct regular field visits
Ensures data collection tools are used correctly during the project implementation
Take active part in all project assessments and researches
Take part in data review meeting at central and provincial level
Conduct data quality assessment
Keep information confidential
Other tasks assigned by his/ her supervisor
Job Requirements:
Holding university/ bachelor’s degree
Minimum three years of experience in public health including one-year experience in
Research and evaluation field,
Experience working with Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, Word,
Outlook Explorer, Power Point, Access)
Flexibility and ability to change gears to meet tight deadlines
Spoken and written competence in Dari and/or Pashto
Good command of written and spoken English
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability and willingness to travel inside Afghanistan and overseas as requested.
