OHPM selected by the UNICEF and WHO and is responsible to delivering the SEHATMANDI BPHS&EPHS in KapisaPaktika and Helmand provinces and implementing other vertical projects in Khost, Parwan, Panjshir and Kandahar provinces funded by the UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, WHO, WFP, according to established and agreed targets (for quality and coverage), and thereby contribute to achieving the goals of the Ministry of Public Health which are to: Reduce maternal and newborn mortality, Reduce under 5 mortality, improve child health and nutrition.

Job Description

  • Overall management of EPI programs: developing EPI programs action plans, support field teams in the implementation of EPI activities, participate in the quality improvement of the programs.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly action plan & progressive reports according to the BPHS/EPHS work plans and ensure the timely and effective implementation of EPI related activities.
  • Ensure EPI services outlined in BPHS/EPHS document is provided through all the projects
  • Responsible for the in time preparation of the EPI related reports at the central level as per the requirement of the stakeholders/donors
  • Act as EPI focal point and represent OHPM in any related training, workshop, meetings and etc.
  • Responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of EPI activities at the central level
  • Improve and enhance the cold chain system and ensure regular supplies to all provinces
  • Accountable to include possible technical inputs to other BPHS/EPHS components during field supervision and official assignments that are directly or indirectly related to the health care of population with vaccination status and overall project performance
  • Cooperate with WHO EPI officer in effective surveillance to eradicate polio
  • Maintain effective coordination and communication with all stakeholders
  • Provide regular monitoring and supportive supervision from the field
  • Conduct refresher and initial training to build the capacity of staff of the projects on EPI related topics
  • Provide technical inputs for effective application of EPI Package to be in-lined with BPHS/EPHS Standards
  • Support the project management team on EPI related interventions
  • Following up of the action plans of external monitors with provincial EPI teams
  • Facilitate the recruitment of the EPI staff at the central and provincial levels
  • Identify, solve or refer the problems of EPI with the relevant partners and departments as required
  • Close coordination with the EPI team of MOPH and other stakeholders
  • Provide technical support in developing the EPI related section during the proposal writing
  • Participate actively in EPI related coordination meetings, workshops and other forums
  • Training and capacity building of staff on EPI: Continuously assessing the knowledge of the project-staff involved in Sehatmandi/HER, the other EPI programs, and organizing training according to the needs and projects training plans.
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by line supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Afghan National
  • Medical Doctor, preference will be given to the candidates with post graduate degree.
  • At least 10 Years’ work experience with government or non-government organization, UN agencies or other development organizations in relevant positions.
  • Fluent in English and local languages.
  • Ability to work on Microsoft Office, Excel, World
  • Be able to travel to provinces and different districts of the provinces for supportive supervision and monitoring.
