Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Program Assistant includes supporting the Country Director in the implementation or program proposals and program activities.



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is within the International Medical Corps Liberia team. It will involve working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. They will assist the sector technical managers and field program staff to develop sound program concept notes and proposals for various donors, as well as work as a liaison between staffs.



1. Assist in the development of good quality project proposals for funding: This includes working with International Medical Corps Liberia Program team in drafting concept notes and proposals. Ensure that the proposals are clear and grammatically correct.

2. Basic familiarity with donor conditionality attached to funding. Where appropriate inform the Program team about the requirements and preferences of donors. This will include the format of proposals and the strategic priorities of those donors.

3. Provide assistance in the provision of information for program development.

4. Collect and organize data as needed

5. Assist in monitoring program progress toward goals, objectives, and indicators

6. Represent International Medical Corps at various meetings

7. Accomplish other duties as may from time to time be decided upon in agreement with line manager. Skills & Requirements: • Master’s degree in Public Health, International Development and/or in a relevant field of study

Job Requirements

 Two to three years of experience in program design and evaluation, of which at least one year in developing countries or resource deprived environment

• Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs

• Cross-cultural awareness and insight into health care issues

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions with limited supervision

• Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations

• Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively

• Creative and able to work with limited resources

• Team player and strong communication skills, both oral and written

• Proficient in computer applications, especially with MS Word and MS Excel, MS PowerPoint a plus
