Job Description

  • Generic responsibilities:

    • Ensure the use and application of NRC rules, tools, manuals and other project guidelines.
    • Ensure appropriate and relevant targeting of beneficiaries in relation to emergency education needs and facilitate the access of the project to the most vulnerable.
    • Implement the EFPR activities according to the action plan and the objectives of the project.
    • Ensure the follow-up and proper implementation of EFPR activities towards project beneficiaries.
    • Prepare and submit status reports as required by the supervisor and/or management.
    • Ensure the organization and regular archiving of project documents.
    • To increase the inconsistencies and solutions for improving project activities.
    • To lead and take part to any process of EFPR from conducting assessment to post-evaluation 
    • Ensuring quality database and MIS system for the section of education Core Competencies’ (CC).
    • Development of holistic and needs based programs, including cash-based interventions and marked based programs.
    • Ensure any other tasks reasonably associated with and assigned by the management.

     

    Specific responsibilities:

    Implementation and Monitoring of Activities.

    • Ensure the implementation of education activities.
    • Raising awareness among local authorities, communities, adolescents and other partners on various topics relating to education in emergencies and on the importance of education in collaboration with the school authorities.
    • Identification and targeting of beneficiaries for re-enrolment into the project.
    • Training of teachers and PED, DED members, parent and school shura members.
    • Ensuring and taking part for activities related to assessment, kits distribution, students' enrolment, finding beneficiaries and etc.
    • Promotion of other awareness sessions related to NRC's education interventions (themes: Education for girls, child protection, gender in Education).
    • Ensure the inclusion of cash-based interventions and marked based programs in country and area-based strategies and their implementation across and within NRC’s core competencies.
    • Provide an enabling environment for the implementation of cash-based interventions, including multi-purpose cash assistance, emergency cash responses.
    • Mobilize local people and beneficiaries to become involved in the implementation of activities in order to ensure a good appropriation of the project by the communities.
    • Ensuring conduction of community Shura establishment ad mobilization in new displaced areas.
    • Support Emergency Coordinator or project Manager (PM) to prioritize the emergency activities in different region such as field assessments, distribution, responses, PDM, risk monitoring and coordination.

     

    Assessment, report writing and documentation.

    • Support the progress of the rapid assessments and sectorial assessments in education.
    •  Program and ensure the collection of project data in collaboration with other NRC staff members (in particular during the sectorial assessments).
    •  Following the collection of information, support the analysis of the context and educational needs in the localities targeted by the project.
    • With assistance of Education Officer produce reports according to project needs and submit them for approval to the Education Coordinator.
    • Organize and archive project documents (attendance sheets, certificates, photos, etc.).

     

    Representation.

    • Maintain good relations with the local school authorities; local authorities and communities, politico-military and traditional authorities in the areas of intervention.
    • Any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Generic professional competencies:

    • Good written and spoken Pashto, Dari, and English.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Ability to be highly mobile and spend a lot of time in the field (Visiting EiE classes, formal schools, survey and enrolling students, school principals and administrative staff, teacher capacity building, and relevant stakeholders).
    • Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programs.
    • Knowledge of emergency interventions or programs.
    • Creativity and willingness to try new things.
    • A positive and collaborative attitude and willingness to work in a team.
    • A willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment.

     

    Context related skills, knowledge and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in education (Education Management, Planning, Education in Emergencies).
    • At least 2 years’ experience working in in education programs preferably with NGOs/ UN/ government.
    • Experience working with local authorities including community leaders and MoE officials.
    • Experience working in the field with low-income communities.
