Job Description

DRR Coordinator is a senior position and working directly with Regional Manager/Senior Project Coordinator/ for developing, coordinating, and implementing disasters risk reduction strategies and program and to minimize the impact of disasters on vulnerable communities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in Development and implementation of DRR interventions for Ghor shelter
  • Conduct risk assessment and vulnerability analysis for Ghor Shelter project
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive action plan for community kitchen volunteers’ groups for project sustainability in targeted districts of Ghor province.
  • Design and deliver training programs on DRR for staff and community members
  • Facilities community based DRR initiatives
  • Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations for proper implementation of shelter projects in Ghor province.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to integrates DRR into development plans
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation framework for DRR Programs
  • Prepare regular reports on program progress and impact
  • Conduct post -disasters assessment to inform future planning
  • Train and build the capacity of staff and community volunteers in DRR
  • Organize workshops, seminars and training sessions for project rightsholders
  • Develop educational materials and resources for DRR awareness in targeted districts of Project.
  • Raise awareness about disasters risk and DRR strategies through campaigns and outreach activities
  • Coordinate with ActionAid safeguarding, MEAL, compliance focal points in terms of training and field monitoring.
  • Advocate for policy changes and best practices in DRR at local, national and international level.
  • Engage community elders, Mullahs and project rightsholders to promote DRR initiatives
  • Follow up the third-party monitoring (TPM) findings, response, and corrective actions.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the line manager.

Any other task assigned by line manager on time to time.

 

Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in disaster management, engineering, or equivalent field
  • Training certificates in DRR are strong assets for the role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, including applied experience in disasters risk reduction , emergency management or related field .
  • Work experience with international / national organization.
  • Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including project -affected peoples, government officials, international and Donors
  • Experience working with I/NGOs will be preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of community development and social environments.
  • Proven management ability and strong interpersonal skills – team player.
  •  Problem-solving skills.
  •  Proficiency in the most common computer software, including word processing and excel spreadsheets.
  •  Ability to deal with difficult, often frustrating work situations.
  •  A willingness to live, travel and work in isolated and possibly dangerous locations.
  •  Gender sensitivity.
  •  Sensitivity to Islamic culture.
  •  Commitment to support/develop project staff and rural communities' capacity.
  •  Personal integrity and a sense of humor.
  •  Knowledge of personal strengths and weaknesses.  
  • Knowledge of exit strategies and sustainability issues.
