Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The District Teacher Educator, Education (DTEE) is a field staff who closely works with the School Shuras (SSs), Community Development Councils (CDCs), School Management Teams (SMTs), District Education Departments/Provincial Education Departments (DEDs/PEDs) and other local influential leaders to improve access to education through establishing of CBE/ALP classes and improve quality of teaching and learning through establishing of school-base catch-up classes, community-based remedial classes and Kankor preparation classes in the communities. The DTEE mobilizes key players to establish CBE/ALP/catchup/ remedial/kankor preparation classes. The DTEE also trains and mentors CBE/ALP/catch-up/remedial/Kankor preparation teachers furthermore train and mentor remedial classes adolescent on life-skills, PSS and self expression.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with School Shura and build their capacity to understand their roles and responsibilities; and
  • Mobilize the community and CDCs to understand the significance of education, and engage them in school support and development.
  • Facilitate community discussions (based on needs) on program topics (gender and child rights, girls’ education, etc.) by engaging parents, CDCs, teachers, CPCs, and influential leaders; and
  • Support the community
  • Facilitate the establishment of CBE/ALP/remedial classes, elect shura members, and identify a safe learning space (donated by community) for the classes;
  • Distribute Flexible Response Funds (FRFs) to catalyze and support locally rooted, teacher-led education solutions to address barriers and improve holistic learning outcomes for marginalized learners
  • Coordinate with school shura and community/religious leaders to conduct back to school campaigns to encourage OOSC to return and stay in schools
  • Establish community-based remedial classes for school-aged children and adolescents to make up learning lost while schools are closed
  • Train and mentor remedial class adolescents on life-skills, PSS and self-expression though establishing safe space to have necessary life-long skills to pursue their learning

 

OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Timely data collection using M&E forms;
  • Work closely with other AKF sectors in communities for better program synergy; and
  • Any tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or senior management in the region.
 

Job Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • Support CBE/ALP/Catch-up/remedial/kankor preparation teachers to develop and use effective teaching resources to enhance the quality of their lessons.
  • Provide mentoring to teachers, DEDs, SS members, so that they are technically able to support the classes by their own.
  • Work directly with teachers to ensure that they are practicing the acquired knowledge and skills.
  • Enroll at-risk students, especially girls, nearing graduation in after-school classes to prepare for and pass university entrance exam.
  • Establish school-based catch-up classes for students at risk for dropping out due to low learning outcomes and/or low attendance.
  • Establish a constructive learning environment and relationship with the teachers to encourage advice-seeking and maximize learning opportunities.

 

REQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s in education or related humanities field; (Science is in priority).
  • At least 2 to3 years of working in the education field.
  • High level of planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong motivation to improve education and ready to work in hard and remote areas.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Dari.
  • Ability to work with computer is preferred.
