Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

Job Description

Position Overview:

The UHI Data Collector/Surveyor will Provide support to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Unit and work closely with the UHI field teams in the data collection of assessments, research and evaluations. Also support the team to ensure data quality.

  • Supervisory position: No
  • Location: Mazar-e-Sharif
  • # of position: 1

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Field Data Collectors will follow sampling instructions provided by the study team
  • Data collector will use the qualitative and quantitative data collection tools
  • Field Data Collectors will conduct a visual assessment of the assessment areas.
  • Interview persons by tools
  • Completing forms or questionnaires electronically.
  • Ask specific questions
  • Record answers
  • Sort, classify, and file forms
  • Participate in the data collectors training workshop
  • Performing day-to-day data collection activities.
  • Contacting randomly selected participants to discuss the survey and the participant’s involvement.
  • Responding to questions the participant may have about the survey.
  • Scheduling time(s) with participants to complete the survey questionnaire.
  • Conducting confidential data collection activities using a smart phone/tablet. Ensuring that all data captured is kept physically secure at all times.
  • Able to work in a team environment.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from school of nursing and midwifery is preferred
  • Completed secondary education
  • At least have one-year experience of data collection/survey
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be fluent in local languages (Dari & Pashto)
  • Be willing to work at least 8 hours per day
  • Have the ability to locate sampled addresses by using maps and other sources
  • Flexibility and ability to change gears to meet tight deadlines
  • Associate degree in information technology (preferred)
  • Data collection or database experience
  • Research and organizational skills
