Job Description:

Job Purpose

The Child Protection Officer Case Management supervise by the Child Protection Coordinator, he/she will be responsible for the planning and implementation, supervision, coordination,  capacity building ,and monitoring and documentation of report of case Management and community led protection components of the project and ensure high quality of services for children through closely engaging functional and active CPANs DCPANs and a team of Caseworkers.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the functionality of the case management system and oversee delivery of high-quality case management in accordance with SOPs and global minimum standards.
  • Support and guide case management teams in their day-to-day work ensuring adherence to key child protection principles through organizing one-on -one and group meetings with the Caseworkers.
  • Provide guidance to teams on identification of child protection risks and appropriate response through one-to-one guidance or case review meetings as needed. Oversee and ensure timely response and follow up of child protection cases.
  • Conduct regular meetings with case workers on lessons learned and best practices and provide feedback to the Case Management Technical Coordinator.
  • As relevant collaborate with Department of Social Welfare staff and other key stakeholders of assigned State and Division in management of child protection cases.
  • Ensure capacity for teams to receive and make referrals with access to service mapping that is updated regularly.
  • Represent the organization in the Case management taskforce coordination meetings at the field level.
  • Take lead in coordinating case conference meetings with other case management task force members.
  • Compile monthly report on the number of cases supported in line with the case management process or steps.
  • Support other delegated tasks from the case management technical coordinator and any other staff.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The position requires strong relationship management and coordination skills, experience in humanitarian programming and protracted emergencies, supporting partners in a remote setting, a good knowledge of the challenges of operating in cross border environment, and experience with capacity assessment and capacity building.

 

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • Education qualification of a Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in humanities like Law, Development studies, social sciences, etc. and certificates in child protection is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the management of case management teams and implementing case management activities in a humanitarian setting with NGO/INGOs.
  • Has good understanding /knowledge and experience of risks children been exposed to in a conflict, drought and natural disaster like earthquakes.
  • Good knowledge and demonstrated skills in applying inter-agency child protection minimum standards including SOPs and guidelines on case management.
  • Good experience in building positive relationships with UN Agencies/INGOs and government when implementing child protection strategic interventions like case management.
  • Ability to develop the capacity of caseworkers and community-based child protection structures to deliver quality case management services for children and their families at risk.
  • Good skills and knowledge in developing quality reports, good analytical skills for case management trends analysis.
  • Has good working knowledge of national and international legal frameworks and conventions related to child protection including the UNHCR, its operational protocols.
  • Ability to develop data systems and use existing child protection information management systems (CPIMs) like CPIMS+, ProGress V4, etc.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, in written English and local language
  • Strong organizational, technological, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and facilitate effective decision making.
