Job Description

Position Summary:

IT Assistant will responsible for installing and maintaining computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. He/she will also “train” the youths in MYC of the systems to make appropriate and safe usage of the IT infrastructure. He/ she must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Set up workstations with computers, and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)
Check computer hardware to ensure functionality.
Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to the specifications.
Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
Provide orientation and guidance to the user on how to operate new software and computer equipment
Assess the youth’s capacity
Prepare a lesson plan based on the assessment findings
Train youth on computer skills (soft war and hardware)
Evaluate Youths learning capacity on regular bases
Organize, and schedule upgrades, and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
Perform troubleshooting to diagnose, and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
Identified computers or network equipment shortages and placed orders.
Be well prepared to teach computer programs.
Perform other job-related tasks assigned from time to time by the management.
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the described responsibilities or of project

Job Requirements

Academic Background and Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science or other related fields.
Maximum 4 years of working experience in the relevant fields are required.
Proven experience as an IT Assistant or relevant position, Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, Excellent communication ability
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
Effective communication, (i) full working knowledge of English (ii) fluency in one national language, and good reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the other.

Skills:

Dari or Pashtu is mandatory
Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
Good Communication and interpersonal skills
Good knowledge of community development especially working with women,
Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
Good reporting skills including report compilation, analysis and presentation
Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
Confidentiality and privacy
