Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

 

NAC will (as an implementing partner with UNICEF) implement a Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Accelerated Funding, one-year Community-Based Education (CBE) and school wash project in 11 districts in Badakhshan. The project will be implemented in Jurm, Kohistan, Raghestan, Yaftal-e-Payan , Yawan, Daraim, Wardoj, Teshkan, Shohadah, Yamgan and Share buzarg districts and will consist of: the establishment of CBE classes in hard-to reach (HTR) communities; training of school Shuras; teacher training and provision of learning materials; and provision of water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) supplies to CBEs and schools.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The community mobilizer is mainly responsible for facilitation of GPE project in the field. Coordinate among stakeholders in the field to ensure there is enough understanding on the ground about the project goals and objectives. The incumbent will also attract the community engagement and mobilization for NAC projects and attain the required community and governments supports towards smooth project implementation.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Mobilization of students for CBE classes in their own localities.
  • Identifying out of school children in the targeted communities and districts.
  • Support the enrollment out of school children into nearest schools and or learning circles.
  • Establishment of Learning circles for 15-30 students.
  • Identifying a suitable place for Learning circles.
  • Coordination with DED and hub schools to ensure the official registration of newly enrolled students at CBCs and ALCs.
  • Assist admin/logistic officer on timely delivery of project supplies and materials to the project fields.
  • Train the shura members and parents to mobilize the community to enroll their children to school and or go back to school.
  • Proper documentation (photos, attendance sheets, video, handover notes) of GPE project’s supplies at district and school levels.
  • Develop and maintain the GPE project filing system and data bases. 
  • Distribute the learning kits to GPE project at targeted CBE, schools, and participants.
  • Equip the established CBEs to mitigate and respond to the risk of COVID-19
  • Improve the capacities of teachers on child-centered, protective and interactive methodologies, core subjects, classroom management, social cohesion and psychosocial support.
  • Improve the knowledge of School Management Shuras (SMS) and key community decision-makers and influencers member on the importance and the right to education for all children, especially girls.
  • Monitoring of CBEs and ALCs
  • Conduct awareness sessions/campaigns/workshop on COVID-19, health, and hygiene.
  • Facilitate communities to establish and equipped new and destroyed learning spaces.
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
 

Job Requirements

Languages Required:

  •  Dari (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • English (reading, writing and speaking)

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years of working experience as a community mobilizer
  •  ‌Bachelor’s degree in social science and education.
  • Good MS Office knowledge (Ms Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Locals will be preferred

 

Work Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years of working experience as a community mobilizer

 

Skills Required:

  • Able to work in hard-to-reach and conflict affected communities.  
  • Sensitivity to religious, cultural and gender issues in the local context, and for targeted districts in Badakhshan in particular.
  • Ability to develop a practical working plan for the field.
  • Good communication, facilitation, presentation, and report writing skills.
