About AWEC

AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women.

Our vision in AWEC is “an inclusive and just society with sensitized and responsive public and private sector, where all women and children have access to opportunities to improve their quality of life in order to realize their full potential”.

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Community Mobilizersare responsible for engaging and working with local communities and beneficiaries, beneficiaries’ identification, and field-level assessment in close coordination with provincial coordinators and under the supervision of the Project Manager.

Job Description:

  • Conduct surveys in targeted districts and villages
  • Assist in conducting training
  • Establish working relationships with communities and local authorities
  • Coordinate project activities with target communities and beneficiaries
  • Conduct awareness sessionsin the local community
  • Coordinate with relevant government departments at the local level in facilitating coordination
  • Facilitation ofproject staff meetings with local authorities and community people.
  • Perform other duties as required

Note: (Couples will be preferred).

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to establish working relations with target communities
  • Strong team management skill
  • Knowledge of community mobilization

Skills and Experience:

  • Good knowledge of the intervention zones and local communities
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.

Education:

  • BA degree in social science,Administration, and Management.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in the related field

Languages Skills:

  • Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pushto languages and English is preferred.
