Job Description

Job Purpose

The Community midwife / female nurse works in Mobile Psychosocial Team to predominantly provide awareness of basic health messages focused on women and girl’s needs, provide first aid services, referrals to the health facilities and work closely with Psychosocial Counsellor to support women and girls holistically to meet their needs.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • provide awareness on basic health messages focused on women and girls needs, provide first aid service, referral to the health facilities and work closely with Psychosocial Counsellor to support women and girls holistically to meet their needs.
  • Ensure informed consent before providing medical assistance to women and girls and their children.
  • Ensure Safe Referral of vulnerable women and girls to the nearby health facilities in case of need.
  • Demonstrate and ensure the highest quality of culturally sensitive education on child/early marriage, family planning, or other related topics from the Islamic perspective in the targeted communities.
  • Provide information on available services and assistance to vulnerable women and girls
  • Keeping records of the work completed
  • Working in a team and ensuring that problems are identified in the initial stages and solved amicably. 
  • Provide support to the PSS / Training Officer with adequate information, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, and problem-solving
  • Attending all relevant meetings requested by the supervisor relevant to the project goals.
  • Assist in other duties requested by the supervisor.

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles and respect international humanitarian law.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Safeguarding

  • It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children and adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons. 
 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Graduated from registered midwifery/ nursing school or relevant educational institutions.

The community midwife should be graduated from midwifery/nursing school is desirable

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience working with government and/or NGOs in health care provision, psychosocial counselling or protection programs, and community-based programs in a fragile environment/region.

At least two years’ experience in delivering is desirable

Competency

  • Attitudes and aptitude aligned with the positions are essential.
  • Good coordination, networking, inter-personal and relationship-building skills, and diplomacy.
  • Good communication and liaison skills with community and all staffs.
  • Good capacity and analysis of conflict management to provide advises to the population.
  • Written and spoken English is a plus.
  • To be able to propose solutions to the identified problems/challenges.
  • Flexibility is requested regarding the working hours and the live-in community after the working hours.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically, effectively plan, and set priorities.

Familiarity with community traditional norms ability to speak clearly  and good communication skills with the influential people of the community to demonstrate the project activities desirable
