Job Description

Objectives of the Position

The Child Protection Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of child protection policies and activities. This role focuses on safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Implementation:
    • Implement child protection activities as outlined in the project plan.
    • Ensure adherence to child protection policies and standards.
    • Conduct awareness-raising activities on child rights and protection.
  2. Case Management:
    • Provide case management services, including assessment, planning, and follow-up.
    • Ensure timely and appropriate referral of child protection cases to relevant services.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
  3. Community Engagement:
    • Engage with community members to promote child protection and create a supportive environment for children.
    • Facilitate community-based child protection activities and initiatives.
    • Conduct training sessions for community members on child protection issues.
  4. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor the implementation of child protection activities and ensure compliance with standards.
    • Collect and analyze data on child protection issues.
    • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports on child protection activities.
  5. Capacity Building:
    • Provide training and capacity building for staff and partners on child protection policies and practices.
    • Support the development of child protection training materials and resources.
  6. Advocacy and Coordination:
    • Advocate for child protection issues at local, national, and international levels.
    • Coordinate with other organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders to strengthen child protection efforts.
    • Participate in child protection networks and working groups.
  7. Emergency Response:
    • Support emergency response efforts to protect children in crisis situations.
    • Ensure that child protection measures are integrated into emergency response plans.
  8. Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of child protection policies and guidelines.
    • Ensure that child protection policies are communicated and adhered to by all staff and stakeholders.
 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum [5] years of experience in child protection or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of child protection principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in case management and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of local child protection laws and regulations.
