The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Title: CAD4TB X-ray technician
Reports to: Cluster manager
Duty station: Kandahar, Mirwais Regional Hospital
Responsibilites:
Verifying presump????ve TB pa????ents' iden????ty and reviewing physicians’ orders before beginning
x-ray procedures.
Explaining the X-ray procedures to presump????ve TB pa????ents and answering their ques????ons
accordingly
Maintaining accurate and reliable pa????ent records and registra????on who are referring from OPDs
Ensuring that the X-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures
Run the so???? image of chest X-ray films into the CAD4TB system
Share the result of CAD4TB with the related OPDs and other referral centers
Keep the so???? and hard copy of the CAD4TB results
Daily monitoring and organiza????on of X-ray examina????ons
Support the management and control of X-ray material and maintenance with other X-rays
technicians
Compliance with standard radia????on safety precau????ons in the X-ray room
Timely communica????on with the referral centers to ensure the CAD4TB result is received
Coordina????on with OPD and DOTS room to ensure the CAD4TB result is received and
follow-up GeneXpert tes????ng is done for the pa????ents
Timely coordina????on and report any technical issues of the CAD4TB system to the IT and
Biomedical engineers of the UHI project
Ensuring that the x-ray equipment is regularly serviced and in good order.
Any other task assigned by the project and direct supervisor
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Certified medical X-ray technician
Required Skills:
• Proven experience working as an X-ray technician.
• Effec????ve wri????en and verbal communica????on skills.
• Experience in using ar????ficial intelligence tools for diagnosis
• Excellent interpersonal and communica????on skills including strong wri????ng, analy????cal
and communica????on skills in Dari, Pashtu, and English (preferable
• Experience working with Microso???? Office so????ware applica????ons (Excel, Word, Outlook
• Explorer, PowerPoint) is advantageous
