The Business development officer will be technically responsible for implementing project activities related to business development or job placement of targeted Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Herat. He/she will identify SMEs and eligible beneficiaries to provide them job opportunity, develop their skills and improve their capacities. He/she will responsible for job placement related programs and activities and collect and process all relevant documentation related to it. He/She will also establish relationships with employers and relevant stakeholders, and identify opportunities for work experience placements.

Key Results Expected:
Supporting, supervision and monitoring of vocational skills development classes at district level.
Conduct outreach to, identification and selection of businesses to host interns and apprentices in the province.
Collect information on internship, apprenticeship and job openings from employers in the province
To prepare a comprehensive activities/implementation plan for beneficiary selection, improvement their capacity and business development.
Compiles and maintains statistical data; prepares reports and provides supportive data and program summaries on the number of jobs created and number of interns supported.
Completes placement information and follows-up on trainees’ employment and promotions and prepare reports
Arrange interviews of the job seekers with the private companies
Follow-up for placement and other activities with the companies and placed job seekers
Support project in conducting business mapping, community attitude, and labor market surveys.
Conduct regular market studies to understand the local market need to the skilled and unskilled labor that will be introduced through the eligibility criteria of the project.
Support and lead the technical hub meetings and keep close coordination with relevant hub members including governmental organizations and private sector.
To support the project entrepreneur groups and private sectors in events such as ag-fairs, exhibitions and B2B meetings.
To prepare and develop business plans for entrepreneurships groups and project beneficiaries who are involved in cash for work activities if any.
To contribute in data collection by using needs assessment, identification of beneficiaries and data collection either via paper forms or through digital equipment;
Support/facilitate project operation staff in provision, distribution and monitoring of goods, services and etc. in the project areas and for beneficiaries.
Provide reporting inputs for project activities results, success stories and other quantitative and qualitative outcomes, required by M&R officer.

Skills and Experience:
Experience required in business development and job placement in local or international organizations.
Demonstrated experience to technical expertise in delivering and managing job placement, business development, women economic empowerment, B2B meetings and event coordination.
Strong understanding of local market context, and potential areas for involving skilled and unskilled labors in the job market in Afghanistan.
Demonstrated reporting and data recording skills.
Experienced community engagement especially involving of women in agricultural activities and food processing including internship and apprenticeship.
Experience in a non-governmental organization or in the United Nations (desirable);
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Economic, Business administration.
Work Experience: At least 2-3 years of work experiences in business development with SMEs, Marketing and job placement with a sustained interest in business promotion and SMEs development.
Languages Skills: Fluency in written and spoken in Dari and Pushto languages and English is preferred
