Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • To provide Primary health care services for patients in the fixed health Facilities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Ability and willingness to travel to all SHCs based on project need for health service delivery.
    • As this is back up MD, he/she will be roving all HFs based on need.
    • Perform emergency first care whenever needed.
    • Provide curative services to patients according to health facility requirements.
    • Support the provision of primary health care within the health facility.
    • Under the direct management of the Health Officer, the Medical Doctor/Nurse is responsible for the following main activities to ensure the provision of quality OPD services.
    • Dispense rational medicine usage to patients in SHC.
    • Provide medicine/medical supply monthly consumption reports regularly.
    • Provide all monthly reports according to the HMIS tools.
    • Ensure the patient's triage registration and measurements of viral signs.
    • Perform dressing and provide first aid care to injured patients whenever needed.
    • Record and report beneficiaries or patients regularly.
    • Identify patients in need of urgent care and refer them immediately to the equipped Health Centre.
  • Register patients coming to SHC seeking care in the registration book.
  • Respect IMC standards of procedures for referral and stabilization of patients.
  • Take part in the management of pharmaceutical goods and medical equipment.
  • Accompany patients to the external referral HF when required.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • The Minimum required for candidates having experience in INGO/NGO is one year.
  • The Minimum required for candidates having experience in other health facilities is two years.
  • Exit Exam is must for this Position.

Experience:

  • Preference will be given to the locals of the duty station.
  • The MD must provide regular reports in a timely manner.
  • The MD must have good communication and liaison skills with the community and all staff of the project.

Competency:

  • Good knowledge and experience midwifery activities
  • Good knowledge and experience of Health and nutrition training delivery.
  • Excellent reputation/well-known Desirable.
  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues in a responsible and mature manner.
  • Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity.
  • The candidate will be able to travel hard to reach districts of the target province.
  • The candidate will have good human and communication skills.
  • The candidate should fluently speak Dari, Pashto and English is an asset.
