Job Description

Job Requirements

Job purpose

The role of an auditor is to ensure financial statements produced by clients are ‘true and fair' and an accurate representation of the transactions and balances they claim to represent. In the industry & services team, you can expect to be part of highly engaged teams, working together to deliver high quality audits in line with client expectations and deadlines.

For the position of Audit Trainee

We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to learn and progress, and we give increasing responsibility when an individual is ready rather than at pre-determined periods.  However, our broad expectation of roles and responsibilities during the three-year training contract is set out below.

During your first year you will:

  • Work with various clients, building a strong understanding of their business;
  • Learn how to prepare professional audit documents in line with our audit methodology using audit software and systems;
  • Develop a thorough understanding of financial statements; and
  • Be able to obtain relevant information from clients whilst building effective rapport with clients.

During your second year you will:

  • Build and develop audit skills in increasingly complex and technical areas;
  • Be able to take ownership for sections allocated to you in an audit file;
  • Self-review your own work, ensuring minimal review points are raised by managers; and
  • Be able to help less experienced team members.

In your final year you will:

  • Be expected to take on significantly more responsibilities.  Depending on the client, this may involve taking the lead on a technical area or a team and ensuring the entire audit file is completed.  This will include a combination of working to stated deadlines, managing the work of junior members, taking responsibility for the budget, and presenting in both team and client meetings. 
    The person 
  • University fresh graduate or actively sitting for the ACCA exams
  • Strong work ethic; the desire to get things done, and to learn and progress
  • Interpersonal skills; the ability to build client relationships with a foundation of trust and responsibility
  • Analytical skills; the ability to accurately and diligently assimilate information, grasp concepts quickly, research and solve problems

For the position of Audit Associate:
We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to learn and progress, and we give increasing responsibility when an individual is ready rather than at pre-determined periods.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering highest quality on every task assigned in line with Mazars MAM methodology;
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of an industry or sector and be aware of technical issues or assurance risks;
  • Execute & document audit procedures as defined by the engagement teams;
  • Timely identification of accounting issues, clearly documenting the facts and findings, and discuss with audit senior;
  • Contribute ideas for improvement by comparing efficiency of review procedures performed across different clients; and
  • Performing analytical review and testing of audit documents.
    The person 
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized University (Accounting, BBA, or actively sitting the ACCA exams)
  • 1 year of relevant experience (understanding of banking, telecommunication and NGOs will be highly preferred)
  • Understanding of accounting and assurance concepts
  • Strong interpersonal and good written & oral communication skills
  • Proficient with MS office especially excel
  • Team player, with the ability to multi-task, flexible and can work under pressure

For the position of Audit Experienced Associate:

We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to learn and progress, and we give increasing responsibility when an individual is ready rather than at pre-determined periods.

You will be responsible for:

  • Gaining a thorough understanding of Mazars' audit approach, methodology and tools;
  • Working on audits, reviews, and compilations within our different industry niches i.e., banking, telecommunication, NGOs and other sectors;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with client personnel to obtain a better understanding of business operations, processes, and functions;
  • Keeping up to date on current economic developments relevant to our clients’ businesses and industries;
  • Performing analytical review and testing of audit documents;
  • Reviewing client accounting and operating procedures and systems of internal control; designing and performing tests of internal control; providing recommendations for improved controls;
  • Producing accurate and timely work papers and documents; and
  • Preparing and assisting the team in audit deliverables.

           The person 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/Finance & Baniking (Master’s Degree is a plus)
  • ACCA qualified or actively sitting the for ACCA professional exams
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an audit firm
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a client service focus
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and client personnel
  • Superior interpersonal skills and a desire to be part of a "work hard, play hard" team

For the position of Audit Senior:

We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to learn and progress, and we give increasing responsibility when an individual is ready rather than at pre-determined periods.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the audit engagments from planning to reporting;
  • Reporting into a management team of partners and managers, working towards the achievement of departmental goals and targets;
  • Operational supervision of assignments with a specific focus on audit, resourced from a combined pool of staff to achieve client satisfaction combined with targeted operational deliverables;
  • Responsible for working to deadlines and within budgets on each assignment;
  • Management of the firm’s relationship with clients including service delivery and co-ordination of service offerings from other departments;
  • Measurement against personal and firm-wide goals;
  • Involvement in training of trainees;
  • Involvement in firm / department / practice development and marketing initiatives; and
  • Responsibility for staff reviewing procedures.

          The person 

  • ACCA Qualified and auditing expreince of a medium / large practice environment
  • Currently working as, a senior in a practice environment
  • Fluent English with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience of operational supervision of assignments and managing of client relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and planning capabilities
  • Ability to provide guidance to others
  • Strong technical background
  • Ability to work to deadlines and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent computer-literacy skills
