About (WASSA):

The Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 as Afghanistan's first women’s independent organization. WASSA aims to promote the women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors and support the current humanitarian crisis by providing emergency humanitarian and livelihood assistance to vulnerable households, especially women.

To support WASSA’s vision and mission, some potential candidates are needed to be recruited for a project funded by UN Women to strengthen women’s livelihoods through increased access to skills and resources. The project will be implemented in three districts of Herat Province for a period of 15 months.

Job Description

  • keeping track of all cash and credit transactions.
  • Collect payments whether in cash or credit.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, change or tickets.
  • Ensure proper filling in a way that can be audited.
  • Other tasks assigned by the finance manager.
  • Responsible to provide daily and weekly Cash reconciliation report to line manager.
  • Pay cash advance for the staff based on approved documents by the authorized person.
  • To ensure that sufficient Petty Cash Fund is maintained at office for financing weekly expenditure and to request the replenishment of the fund before the balance is reduced to 20% of the float.
  • Preparing and maintaining important QuickBooks financial reports.
  • Preparing tax returns and ensuring that taxes are paid properly and on time.
  • Collecting and analyzing financial data.
  • keeping and entering financial records and data to QB system.
  • Support to finance manager/officer to review the monthly financial reports, identify any requirements for cross charges and prepare the cross-charge table accordingly.
  • Support Finance Manager/Officer to prepare financial reports (monthly, quarterly and annual reports).
  • Review the monthly financial reports in QB system and identify any error happened in the report and inform finance manager/officer for further actions.
  • Comply with financial policies and regulations.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Other tasks assigned by the finance manager.

Job Requirements

  • Having knowledge of QuickBooks system for non-profit Organization. 
  • High communication skills
  • Able to read and write English in advance level
  • Computer skills (specifically office programs)
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software specially in QuickBooks
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
