The Organization for Women Empowerment (OWE) was established in 2014 as a non-profit and development organization - registered with the NGO Department of the Ministry of Economy, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. OWE aims to help impoverished communities, particularly women, youth, and children, gain social, economic and political potency by raising awareness, building capacity, educational and vocational skills training, and creating professional opportunities. OWE is a women’s organization for women. OWE's learning experience as a development organization comes from its working association with communities in different areas of Afghanistan. More importantly, OWE is one of the successful organizations in the community, NGO Coordination Bureau, and region.
Project summary:
The proposed project will improve mental health and social well-being of women and girls’ in Afghanistan and will establish strong community based support mechanism for the vulnerable and at risk women through MHPSS and mental health/ treatment support and strengthen their capacity and knowledge on health and hygiene related issues in the conflict and crisis contexts in Afghanistan.
Capacity and IEC materials development and conducting individual PSS counselling session for 75 vulnerable women) in Kunduz Province on how to improved their health condition. Meetings with 50 persons of community influential, religious scholars and women representatives in Kunduz on how to support the vulnerable women and introduce them to the humanitarian actors for further assistance. Providing logistical support and referral services for the vulnerable and poor women including legal advice, counselling, treatment, and other emergency supports services to them are the main activities of this project.
